2008 Scholarship Opportunity

In an effort to promote education and professional development to SWANA members and their families, the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) has established the Grant H. Flint Scholarship Awards Program.  Scholarships/Grants are available at the local SWANA level for all award Categories, and at the national SWANA level for Categories I, II, and III.  In past years, Scholarship/Grants at the local level have exceeded $5,000 and National SWANA has identified over $10,000 in potential awards for 2008. 

Awards are based on the overall achievements and need of the individual candidate, and not solely on academic performance.  Awards are determined based on review of the SWANA New York Chapter Scholarship Committee.

There are a number of award categories for students and member professionals:

Category I - First Year College Students
Category IA - Second Year College Students
Category II - Third/Fourth Year College Students
Category III - Graduate Students
Category IV - NY SWANA Members seeking continuing or higher education

Applications will be accepted until May 1, 2008 and award(s) will be announced by June 1, 2008.
